When you consider that Foodstuffs as a whole is New Zealand's second largest employer, and we play such a key role in the country’s grocery industry as well as it's broader retail market place it shouldn't be hard to envisage the breadth of roles and opportunities available to you within one of our two regional cooperatives.

Roles available:

Accountant, Finance Division

The Financial Accountant role within Foodstuffs is very important as it provides essential financial reporting for the business as a whole. Not only will you be preparing weekly gross margin reports and period-end financial reports, but you’ll also do Profit and Loss, balance accounts and ledgers, maintain fixed assets and undertake project work. While being qualified and having experience is just part of being successful in this role, just as important is your ability to build relationships with key business partners within the organisation.

Accountant

As an accountant working for one of the Foodstuffs Support teams you will get to see more of Foodstuffs than most. Being involved in various aspects of the business from sales, margins, and management accounting right through to taxation, foreign exchange and treasury, you will need a great way with people, and the ability to really own the work you do. You’ll enjoy the variety through working with business streams from retail to property management, solving problems as you go, and providing vital information on all aspects of the business.

IT Technical Support

Providing IT technical support to an organisation as large and diverse as Foodstuffs requires a team of people who are highly skilled, dedicated, and responsive. We are responsible for delivering, maintaining and supporting a complex network. Included in this is hardware, systems software, servers and peripherals. Our support includes defining problems and fixing the faults, installing equipment, and also designing and configuring hardware and systems software. Team work is important as we often rely on our Service Desk and 3rd party support groups as we deliver to our users. We also undertake training (such as systems hardware management and software installation), so if you join us in IT you may get to do it all.

Retail Support

Our supermarkets are the focus of our business. Enabling our markets to function efficiently means providing training, support and guidance to Foodstuffs and Retail Store personnel in the retail use of the SAP. Our aim is to make sure our retail operations gain maximum benefit from the implementation and use of the SAP system, and to have consistency across all stores in the use of the system.

Invoice Verification

As part of finance team we aim to ensure that when the company has purchased goods or services from a supplier, the invoice and payment made by us for these, is correct both in terms of the goods we have received and the price we pay for them. You will be matching the invoices with the purchase orders and processing them for payment, so that suppliers are paid correctly, by the due date and under the existing terms. We also deal with issues that arise over the price or supply and try and resolve them if possible.

Senior Category Manager, Merchandising Division

The Senior Category Manager is responsible for managing a specified portfolio and providing profitable growth strategies for an assigned category of products. The focus of your role is to maximise the sales and profitability of the cooperative and it’s members. By purchasing on the best possible terms we aim to achieve competitive pricing and maintain optimum supply service levels to members. You need to be proactive, have the ability to build strong relationships with everyone from suppliers to store owners and your other key stakeholders and possess a flair for negotiation, analysis and decision making.

Training Co-ordinator

The Training Coordinator provides the all important Training and Development direction, advice and support to business owners, managers and individual employees. You need to have a passion for the development of both the business and our people, as you have the responsibility of assisting with developing the career path of all our people. You will need to have the flexibility to travel, the creativity to develop new business concepts into learning outcomes, and be able to influence at all levels of the organisation.
